Nur Bekri appointed acting chairman of Xinjiang

Nur Bekri was appointed acting chairman of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday.

Nur Bekri was appointed at the 35th session of the Standing Committee of the 10th Xinjiang Regional People's Congress in Urumqi to replace Ismail Tiliwaldi who had resigned.

Nur Bekri, of the Uygur ethnic group, was born in August 1961 in Bole, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dec. 1982. He had served as deputy party secretary of the Xinjiang Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China since Jan. 2005.
