China Donates $30,000 to Cambodian Red Cross for Dengue Control

The Red Cross Society of China on Friday donated US$30,000 to the Cambodian Red Cross to support the operations in terms of dengue fever control.

 

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Zhang Jinfeng handed over the donation to Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, at its headquarters in Phnom Penh.

 

Bun Rany expressed her thanks for the donation, adding that it will help them addressing the urgent needs in their fight against the current dengue fever outbreak in Cambodia.

 

According to the statistics from the Cambodian Health Ministry, the 182 death toll from the virus in the first six months of this year already surpassed that of the whole year of 2006, namely 158.

 

The reported cases of human contamination of the fever so far this year have reached some 15,000, compared with 16,649 in the whole year of 2006.
