Adjust font size:

Some 198 suspected hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) cases have been detected in the Mongolian capital and five provinces, the Mongolian General Authority for Emergency Management (GAEM) said Sunday.

There was no death from the disease so far, said GAEM.

Mongolia has set up an emergency committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Miegombyn Enkhbold to take measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Elementary schools in the country will suspend classes starting from Monday, it said.

The first suspected HFMD case in Mongolia was reported Thursday in the Mongolian capital.
