Herbalife to launch relief found to aid earthquake-affected children in Sichuan

Herbalife (China) Health Products Ltd recently signed an agreement with Mianyang Municipal Education Bureau and announced a formation of a relief fund with plans to assist children affected by the devastating earthquake in Sichuan Province, China.

The found, called Warm Foundation, will help facilitate meeting the needs of children from 300 families with financial problems in Minyang City in the coming two years. Each family will receive about 1000 yuan from the fund annually, according to the release from the company.

So far, the fund has given its first relief fund as well as warm winter clothes to more than 12 children in Mianyang City to help them go through the cold winter. “The fund is established on the donation of our more than 1000 employees in China, representing our good wishes and warm regards to the people affected by the devastating earthquake,” said the spokesperson of Herbalife South China division.

“We are glad to have the opportunity to help the local governments aid the families and children affected by the earthquake and would like to see more people to join us in the efforts.” Herbalife has worked in close partnership with local government departments in the Sichuan in the earthquake relief efforts. Herbalife has always been looking forward to bring its products back to the home of traditional Chinese medicine. As such, as early as 1997, the company initiated its plan of investing in China.

In 1998, Herbalife (China) Health Products Ltd. was established with a total investment of $37.50 million and its executive hub in Shanghai. The company's manufacturing base in China was located in Suzhou Industrial Zone and started its operation in 2000.
