Hong Kong reports 20th fatal case of A/H1N1 flu

Hong Kong reported Friday another fatal case of the Influenza A/H1N1, bringing to 20 the total number of fatal cases of the special flu in the city.

Hong Kong's Yan Chai Hospital spokesperson said that a 44-year-old female patient with asthma and hyperlipidemia developed respiratory symptoms on Sept. 20.

The patient was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 22. The patient was prescribed Tamiflu and antibiotics. She required ventilation support and had been in critical condition. Positive result of Influenza A/H1N1 was confirmed on Sept. 23. Her condition was further deteriorated and succumbed at 12:38 p.m. Friday.

The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and Center for Health Protection. The hospital has also referred the case to Coroner.
