Germany has reported its first confirmed case of swine flu, health authorities in the German state of Bavaria said Wednesday.

The disease was found in a patient in Regensburg, north of Munich, said the health authorities.

The case was confirmed by the Robert Koch Institute, Germany's national disease control center.

Germany thus becomes the third European country hit by the deadly swine flu.
