Taiwan has confirmed a new A/H1N1 flu case, bringing the total in the island to 11, the local disease control authorities said Friday.

The latest case involved a 19-year-old female student who currently studied in the United States.

On May 26, the girl took a plane to Taiwan, with stopovers at Chicago and Tokyo. She arrived in the island the next day.

During the travel, she began to cough and have a fever. She was confirmed to be infected with the flu after going to hospital Friday.

The airport bus driver and passengers in the bus with the girl are now under medical observation.

A total of 59 people who sat near the girl on the plane were also listed as people who had close contact with the patient, but it is not clear whether they are now under observation.

The tenth case involved a 26-year-old man who had had a Chinese mainland tour. He traveled in Guizhou Province between May 13 to 22. He took a plane on May 22 and arrived in the island the next day, stopping over at Hong kong.

The man is said to have also attended a computer lesson on May 24 before developing a fever on May 25.
