A/H1N1 flu cases rise to 52 in Vietnam

Vietnamese health officials said the country reported four more A/H1N1 flu cases, bringing total number of infections to 52, local newspaper the New Hanoi reported Tuesday.

Among the four newly-detected cases, two are in the country's capital city of Hanoi and two are in Ho Chi Minh City, according to the report.

In Hanoi, one patient is a 24-year-old woman coming back from Australia on Thursday. She was confirmed positive to the virus and is being treated at the National Institute of Infectious and Tropical Diseases.

Another patient is a 16-year-old Australian tourist coming to the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Saturday. He was admitted to the Hanoi-based VietnamFrance Hospital after showing higher body temperature. The patient was found positive to the A/ H1N1 virus later, said the report.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Health Department reported two more A/H1N1 flu cases Monday. The two patients came back from Australia on the flight VN780.

With the four new A/H1N1 cases, total number of flu patients in the country increases to 52, said the newspaper. Among those, 27 patients are residing in Ho Chi Minh City, four in Hanoi and one in the central province of Khanh Hoa. The 20 remaining patients are in southern provinces.
