A 34-year-old man has become the seventh person to die of A/H1N1 flu in Spain, the Spanish Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.

The victim lived in the city of Albacete in central Spain. He had been hospitalized for two weeks in a very serious condition.

The first A/H1N1 victim in Spain was a 20-year-old pregnant woman who was also suffering from pneumonia, while five of the other six victims all had underlying health conditions.

The Spanish Health Ministry has confirmed around 1,600 infected cases so far.

The ministry said on Tuesday that it would release a statement every Friday to show the average number of cases per 100,000 people. The number of those affected is expected to increase.
