The presidents of China and Lithuania agreed on Tuesday to further enhance economic and trade cooperation.

 

"The Chinese government encourages its entrepreneurs to invest in Lithuania and also welcomes Lithuanian business in China," President Hu Jintao told Lithuanian counterpart Valdas Adamkus in their talks held in Beijing.

 

Hu also vowed to make full use of the economic and trade committee between the two countries to explore new measures for further cooperation.

 

Adamkus said the agreements signed between the two countries paved the way for economic and trade cooperation, and he hoped the cooperation would be stepped up.

 

Adamkus arrived in Shanghai on Sunday for a five-day state visit to China with economic and trade cooperation at the top of his agenda. He attended trade seminars in Beijing and Shanghai.

 

His visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-Lithuanian relations. He voiced his hope to promote cooperation with China in cultural and scientific fields and environmental protection.

 

He reaffirmed that Lithuania would adhere to the one-China policy.

 

The two presidents agreed to strengthen coordination in international affairs.
