NPC Delegation Meets with Cambodia's Top Officials

A delegation of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, on Thursday in Phnom Penh met with top officials of Cambodia's Senate and National Assembly on bilateral exchange and cooperation.

 

The delegation, led by Li Tieying, vice chairman of the NPC's Standing Committee, respectively held talks with Senate President Chea Sim and National Assembly President Heng Samrin.

 

Chea Sim extended warm welcome to the delegation, adding that this visit will promote the friendly cooperation between the two countries and between both legislatures.

 

He also expressed appreciation for the precious support and generous aids extended by the Communist Party of China, the NPC and the Chinese government for Cambodia to promote peace, development and economical construction.

 

Li agreed with Chea Sim's views about the relationship between China and Cambodia, adding that this visit is aimed at promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

 

Later, during his meeting with Heng Samrin, Li said that China pays great attention to the relationships with Cambodia, as the two countries are close friends and good neighbors.

 

Li introduced the current situation of the NPC, while emphasizing the importance of the cooperation between the Chinese and Cambodian legislatures.

 

Heng Samrin also introduced the situation of the Cambodian National Assembly.

 

The Chinese delegation arrived here on Wednesday on a five-day official goodwill visit.

 

Cambodia is the second leg of the delegation's regional tour which also includes Nepal and Myanmar.
