Pakistan Foreign Ministry and government officials from Belarus, Tunis and Ecuador have recently expressed their support for China in its effort to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and their opposition to politicize the Beijing Olympics.

"Tibet is an inalienable part of China. This is universally recognized by the international community. Pakistan is firmly opposed to any attempts to undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," said the Foreign Office of Pakistan in a statement issued Tuesday.

It added that the Olympic Games were the most important sports event for all people around the world. Pakistan opposed any attempts to politicize and subvert the Beijing Olympics.

Belarussian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Popov said Tuesday that Belarus has always regarded Tibet as part of China and confirms its support for measures by the Chinese leadership to ensure the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Belarus is of the view that it is unacceptable to link the Tibet issue with the Olympics in Beijing, Popov said.

Meeting with outgoing Chinese Ambassador Liu Yuhe, Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports Abdallah Kaabi said that the Tibet issue is China's internal affairs. He expressed the belief that China could handle the issue properly.

The minister said that the Olympic Games should not be politicized, noting that most countries in the world have decided to attend the Beijing Olympics. Kaabi said he is convinced that Beijing Olympics will be a great success.

Ecuadorian Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Lopez said Monday that the Ecuadorian government understands the Chinese government's stance on issues concerning national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ecuador hopes stability could be restored in Tibet soon and believes the issue will not affect China's economic development and the Beijing Olympics, said Lopez while meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador Cai Runguo.
