A senior official of the Communist Party of China said in Beijing on Tuesday China is ready to further deepen and develop the relations with the ruling party and government of Togo.

"China considers Togo as an important partner of cooperation, and is ready to further deepen and develop its relations with Togo's ruling party and government," said Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, in a meeting with Solitoki Esso, secretary general of the Rally of the Togolese People.

Li, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said Togo is a traditional friend of China and he hopes the two sides can make joint efforts for the bright future of China-Togo friendly cooperation.

Li thanked the Togolese government for insisting on the one-China policy and the support to China on the Taiwan and Tibet issues.

Esso told Li that his party and the Togolese government will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy, support China's peaceful reunification cause and support China in hosting the Beijing Olympic Games.

He spoke highly of the friendly cooperation between the parties and two countries and vowed to promote the comprehensive development of bilateral ties.

Esso and his delegation arrived in Beijing on Monday for a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC.
