Bulgaria's parliamentary group supports China to stabilize Tibet
Adjust font size:

The Parliamentary Group for Friendship of Bulgaria and China expressed Thursday its understanding and support for the measures taken by the Chinese government to restore social order and stability in Tibet.

All members of the parliamentary group support measures by the Chinese government to safeguard its territorial integrity, said Yanaki Stoilov, chairman of the parliamentary group, at a forum with Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Zhang Wanxue, and other diplomats of the Chinese embassy.

Bulgaria adheres to the one-China policy regarding the Tibet and Taiwan issues and sticks to the stance that there is only one China in the world, said Stoilov.

Bulgaria opposes activities staged by any force to split China, he added.

He expressed hope that the Beijing Olympic Games will be a great success and that athletes from both Bulgaria and China will have a good performance at the sports event.

Bulgarian athletes are making preparations for the Beijing Games, Stoilov said.

The chairman said he is satisfied with the developments of the friendly relations between Bulgaria and China and expressed respect for the "tremendous" changes China has made since the reform and opening up.

Zhang also spoke highly of Sino-Bulgarian relations and highly appreciated the contribution made by the Parliamentary Group for Friendship of Bulgaria and China to promote bilateral ties.
