Adjust font size:

All five Chinese nationals taken hostages by a group of gunmen in Indonesia's Aceh province were released Tuesday after being held since Saturday.

The Jakarta-based Metro TV reported the five Chinese were evacuated to a local government office in Pining sub-district, Aceh province, on the northern tip of Sumatra Island.

Their conditions were not immediately known and local officials were not available for comments.

A group of gunmen abducted seven Chinese workers and an Indonesian citizen in Gayo Lues district, Aceh province, late on Saturday.

On Sunday evening, two Chinese hostages have been released to deliver their demand for a ransom of 300 million rupiah (32,633 U. S. dollars), an embassy staff told Xinhua.
