Hu meets Canadian PM on bilateral ties

Chinese President Hu Jintao met Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper Wednesday in the northern Japanese resort of Toyako.

The two leaders, who met on the sidelines of the outreach session of the Group of Eight (G8) summit, exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations.

The G8 groups Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States.

President Hu was invited to the outreach session of the G8 summit, which discussed the pressing issues facing the world today, such as the world economy, climate change and energy security.
