Adjust font size:

The White House said Wednesday that US President George W. Bush has designated an official delegation to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, led by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The seven-member delegation will also include Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt, US Ambassador to China Clark Randt, President of the US Olympic Committee Peter Ueberroth, former Undersecretary of State Karen Hughes and famous Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino.

The State Department announced on July 10 that Rice will attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic games on August 24 and is also likely to watch some events before that.

Earlier this month, the White House confirmed earlier this month that Bush would attend the Beijing Olympics Games' opening ceremony.
