Vice premier meets Dow Chemical's chairman

Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang met in Beijing Friday with Andrew Liveris, chairman and chief executive officer of the Dow Chemical Company.

Zhang spoke highly of Dow Chemical's efforts on exchanges with China, expressing the hope that the company could further strengthen the technical cooperation with China in such fields as chemical industry, production safety and environmental protection.

Liveris said he is willing to exert a positive influence on the development of China-US economic and trade cooperation.

Liveris, who is here at the invitation of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), is the new chair of the U.S.-China Business Council.
