A delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held talks on Monday here with ranking officials of Serbia's senior ruling Democratic Party to enhance inter-party exchange and cooperation.

The Chinese delegation, headed by deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Chen Fengxiang, held separate meetings with Dragoljub Micunovic and Milos Jevtic, who are also presidents of the Serbian parliament committees for foreign affairs and foreign economic relations.

During his meeting with Micunovic, Chen said that relations between the CPC and Democratic Party were established during the Serbian foreign minister's visit to China last year while the CPC has good relations with 520 parties from 160 countries.

He said that inter-party cooperation should contribute to the promotion of interstate relations and strengthening of friendship and cooperation among peoples.

Micunovic said that the relations with China are of strategic importance for Serbia. He expressed his appreciation about China's stands of principle and support within the UN Security Council in regards to the issue of Kosovo.

During the meeting with Jevtic, Chen said that the relations between CPC and the Democratic Party are part of state diplomacy and that it is important to raise the party and state relations between China and Serbia to a higher level.

On the invitation of the Democratic Party, the Chinese delegation arrived in Belgrade on Sunday and would conclude its visit on Wednesday.
