25 killed in E Pakistan bomb blast

At least 25 people were killed and some 30 others injured on Thursday in a bomb blast in eastern Pakistan.

Local TV reports said that the blast occurred in the Wadani area near the Saddar police station in the city of Dera Ghazi Khanof the Punjab province.

The blast took place when mourners of a procession on the fourth day of Hazrat Imam Hussain Martyrdom Anniversary were moving in the city.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Witnesses said they saw bodies and scores of others injured lying on the road shortly after the blast.

The bomb exploded outside the Wadani Imam Bargha mosque in the evening. The Imam Bargha is located near a bus station and in the city center.

The Markazai Shia Council said that it had informed the local police that there would be possibility of a terrorist attack. But it complained that the police had not taken sufficient security measures.

However, police said that they were ordered to beef up the security of the procession.

Hospitals appealed to the people to donate blood as they are running out of blood.
