Kidnapped UN official killed in Pakistan
Adjust font size:

The abducted UN official John Solecki was said to have been killed in Pakistan, reports said on Monday.

Some unknown persons claimed killing of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) official, who was kidnapped in southwestern Pakistan's Quetta city a few days ago, local Geo TV channel said.

Reports said unknown persons made phone calls to Quetta Press Club on Monday and claimed that the UN official named John Solecki has been killed and his body will be found after two hours.

But there is no official confirmation of the killing.

A UNCHR spokesman did not confirm the report, but said it might be a hoax call.

Solecki was kidnapped and his driver was shot dead after his vehicle was ambushed on Feb. 2 in Quetta.
