Senior Chinese legislator meets Ivy visitors

Lu Yongxiang, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, met in Beijing on Thursday with the Ivy League student leaders delegation.

Lu spoke of the sound momentum of China-US ties in recent years, and called for the young students to make due contribution to the healthy development of bilateral ties.

He also briefed the delegates about China's current economic and social development.

The 21-member delegation, composed of student representatives from eight universities of the Ivy League, are in Beijing at the invitation of the All-China Students' Federation.

Lu Yongzheng, secretary of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, attended the meeting.
