First press conference held in Beijing

On Feb. 27, 2008, the first press conference of the 2008 FIT World Congress was held in Beijing. Mr. Huang Youyi, the newly appointed speaker of the Translators Association of China (TAC), briefed the press with the latest progress of the Congress preparation work as well as an introduction of FIT and the FIT World Congress.

Mr. Guo Xiaoyong, Executive Vice President of TAC, announced to the press that Beijing Yuanpei Century Translation Co., Ltd., a leading translation agency in China, became the “Exclusive Main Sponsor” of the XVIII FIT World Congress, and a “Permanent Partner of the Translators Association of China”.

The press conference was attended by more than 40 journalists from interested national and local media bodies, including Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily and China Central Television (CCTV). China.org.cn, one of the nation’s top news website, delivered an online live broadcast of the whole process; the Phoenix TV, Ta Kung Pao and Wenwei (Wenhui) in Hong Kong also reported this event. The press conference marks the official commencement of the publicity work of the Congress.
