Financial Translation and Project Management Strategies- Getting the Terminologies Right in Financial Translation and Managing Projects Without Glitches

Christ Li

Bowne Translation Services, USA

In a field as fast-evolving, broad, and global as finance, it’s difficult sometimes to get the terminologies right, especially when the finance market in China is just emerging in recent few years with many companies going public domestically and overseas. There is a scarcity of resources and information on selecting the correct financial terminologies and efficiently managing large financial translation projects.

This presentation is two-fold: (1) We will use English->Simplified / Traditional Chinese as an example to focus on the skill set involved in finding and choosing the right terms, translation techniques, and pitfalls. (2) Most of the financial translation projects are long-term involving lots of planning and management. We will focus on understanding the process in order to run projects smoothly, and how to face and fix the problems as they arise.
