China to Provide Aid to Flood-hit N Korea

Chinese government decided to provide humanitarian aid to North Korea which is suffering serious flood caused by heavy rain, announced foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on Thursday.

"Chinese government pays great attention to the situation in North Korea and decided to provide humanitarian aid such as medicine and equipment to help the flood victims to overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes," Liu said.

The heavy rain, which started on August 7, caused huge losses of life and property and left 100,000 people homeless, according to reports by the Korean Central News Agency.
