German chancellor to visit China

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit China from Oct. 23 to 25 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced at a regular press conference Thursday.

During the stay in China, Merkel will attend the Seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM7), which was scheduled to be held from Oct.24 to 25, according to Qin.
