Sri Lanka's minister killed in bomb attack

A Sri Lankan senior minister was killed in a bomb explosion blamed on the Tamil Tiger rebels on Sunday, the police said.

Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, the Minister of Highways and the Chief Government Whip in Parliament, was killed at Weliweriya, 27 kms north of Colombo as he was flagging off a marathon race.

The police said it was unable to confirm it was a suicide blast. Ten others are also believed to have been killed.
