Suicide bombing kills 2, wounds 18 in northern Iraq

A suicide bombing attack on Saturday killed two people and left 18 wounded in Iraq's northern town of Tal Afar, a police source said.

A suicide bomber detonated explosives on his car near a football playground at about 5:00 p.m. (1400 GMT), said the sourcefrom Nineveh provincial police, adding five of the injured were inserious condition.

Tal Afar, about 70 km west of the provincial capital Mosul, hasbeen frequently targeted. A car bomb explosion on Aug. 8 killed 18people and wounded more than 20 at a market.

Also on Saturday, Muayad al-Lami, head of the Iraqi Journalists' Union, was wounded in a bomb blast in Baghdad.
