Pakistan to convene NA session to impeach Musharraf

The Pakistani government has decided to convene the session of National Assembly on Aug. 11 for the impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf, the Federal Minister for Information Sherry Rehman on Thursday.

Talking to media outside Parliament House, she said the session of the National Assembly, lower house of the parliament, will be summoned on Aug. 11 in which the resolution of impeachment will be tabled and full process of impeachment will be on Aug. 12-13.

The News Network International news agency quoted Sherry as saying that the session of Punjab Assembly was already in progress and the sessions of the other three provincial assemblies would be convened soon in which the resolution regarding impeachment would be approved.

Addressing a joint news conference with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan People's Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari Thursday said the coalition had decided to move to start the proceedings to impeach Musharraf after three days of meetings in Islamabad and Karachi.
