What to watch on Obama inauguration day

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States by noon Tuesday here during a day full of inaugural events.

The following are things to watch throughout the day in sequence.

900 GMT Washington Metro opens. Authorities recommend that those who want to watch the inauguration on large TV screens along the Mall arrive no earlier than this time.

1200 GMT Parade route entry points open.

1300 GMT The National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian Castle building open two hours early for visitors.

Gates open for those who received tickets to watch Obama take the oath of office in the area closest to the Capitol.

1345 GMT Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden attend a morning worship service at St. John's Episcopal Church.

1455 GMT Obama and his wife, Michelle, have coffee at the White House with President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura.

1500 GMT Inauguration festivities begin with a musical prelude on the west front of the U.S. Capitol, including:

Musical selections by The United States Marine Band, the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus.

Senator Dianne Feinstein, president of the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, will call to order and make welcoming remarks.

Invocation by the Rev. Rick Warren.

Musical selection of Aretha Franklin.

1630 GMT Official program begins. Biden will be sworn in and Obama will take the oath of office prior to noon.

1800 GMT Obama delivers his Inaugural address. After the address, he will escort outgoing President George W. Bush to a departure ceremony before attending a luncheon in the Capitol's Statuary Hall.

1930 GMT Inaugural parade will make its way down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House.

2230 GMT The parade concludes.

0000 GMT Wednesday Ten official inaugural balls attended by Obama.
