Adjust font size:

Up to 20 people were killed and 30 others were injured when a woman suicide bomber blew herself up at a house in the volatile Diyala province on Monday, a provincial police source said.

A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew herself at a house in the town of Baladruz some 75 km northeast of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The targeted house was for a former detainee who had been released from a US-run-prison, the source said.

Relatives and friends were having the Ramadan Iftar meal at sunset celebrating the release when the female attacked them, the source added.

Earlier, the source put the toll at 15 killed and 20 wounded.
