A front page love letter placed by a love-sick young man in the hope of rekindling romance with his ex has triggered widespread debate among the public, an article from Hunan-based Red Net reported on Thursday.

The "San Xiang City Express" from Hunan province used half of its front page to display an impressive love letter entitled "I love you more than you can imagine" on Thursday. The unique letter was written by a young man in his twenties, named Shuai to Ying, his ex-girlfriend.

Heart felt words decorated with an expressive design in the shape of a heart have touched many readers who called in to voice their support, while others have rallied against such practice. However, the girl mentioned in the letter is yet to appear.

As the letter describes, the two have had a decade-long relationship but broke up after a quarrel. 27 days after the breakup, Shuai realized his wrong doing and sought to rekindle their romance in this way.

Shuai said in the letter that he was very sorry for his willfulness and male chauvinism. He pleaded with Ying to read this letter and come back to him, hoping she would give him a chance to take care of her for the rest of their lives.

Having an ad on the front page of a newspaper would usually cost somebody an arm and a leg and many people doubt whether this is nothing but commercial hype. Staff with the newspaper denied these accusations saying that the man just wanted to show his love. The author said he didn't want to be interviewed nor have his identity revealed.

As the initial impact of the letter faded today, many people have shown their understanding and sympathy for the young man who dared to expose his inner most feelings by publishing a letter to win back his love. Some female readers say they would accept Shuai if they were the girl.

Others have suggested that, such a direct way of expressing love for a girl can only work for a moment, not a lifetime. In their opinion, it is not necessary to be so over the top about love. Some have even suggested the guy was simply showing off his wealth.
