Chinese Zhang Yingying from Inner Mongolia won the women's 10,000 meters race at China Athletics Open held on Thursday.

She finished at 30 minutes and 38.35 seconds to get the gold medal at the test event held in the Bird's Nest, or National Stadium, for Beijing Olympic Games.

Bai Xue and Chen Rong took the silver and bronze medals respectively at 31:40.38 and 31:41.60 in the race.

"My performance today is pretty good and I think I can do better in the Olympic Games," the 18-year-old Zhang said, adding that she will concentrate on 10,000 meters and will not compete in the marathon race at the Olympics.

"When I came to the stadium, I was deeply impressed by the atmosphere created by the audience," she said.

Chen Rong, the gold medalist in a marathon test event for the Beijing Olympic Games held in the Bird's Nest last month, said she did not give a self-satisfying performance in the race.

"Although I will not compete in the 10,000 meters at the Olympics, I take part in this event as a training session for my marathon in August," Chen said.
