Raynell Williams from the United States won the title of the 57kg feather category at the Beijing international boxing invitational tournament on Thursday.

Williams beat Arturo Santos from Mexico 31-22 at the final to win the gold.

The bronze winners are Afanasy Poskachin from Russia and Samat Bashenov from Kazakhstan.

It is the first gold medal for Williams in international competition, the U.S. boxer said after the winning the gold.

"I will take some training, and prepare for the next year's Olympics. I want to make achievements in the Olympics, and that's my duty," Williams said.

Williams was moving on the stage very quickly and left no chance for him, said the silver medallist Santos.

Santos added Williams is taller and has longer arms, which helped him win the game.

"Good Luck Beijing" international boxing invitational tournament kicked off at the Beijing Workers Indoor Arena (BWIA) on Saturday and ends on Thursday.

The six-day tournament is among a series of test events for the Beijing 2008 Olympics, featured 70 boxers from 17 countries and regions, including 12 from the Chinese mainland.
