China celebrates Int´l Olympic Day

Monday was International Olympic Day set by the International Olympic Committee in 1984. Several activities were held in co-host cities of the Beijing Games to celebrate the day.

In Tianjin Municipality, tens of thousands of people turned out at Yinhe Square for the event.

In east China's coastal city of Qingdao, activities held jointly by Qingdao and Hong Kong attracted many participants.

Olympic co-hosts Qingdao and Hong Kong gave free tickets for the Games to residents of each others' cities.

Shenyang, capital of northeast Liaoning province, is holding an exhibition of Olympic culture.
