Workers try to save a pair of colleagues from going under a thick blanket of oil on July 20 in northeastern China's Dalian. The pair were trying to fix an underwater pump on a pipeline which exploded last week, triggering a dark-brown oil slick that has stretched over at least 183 square kilometers of ocean near blast-hit Xingang port, with 50 square kilometers severely affected. Zhang Liang, a soldier from Dalian Fire Brigade and one of the pair, died. [163.com]
