In the spring of 2010, a cold air mass destroyed the food source of golden monkeys living in the Qinling Mountains, and some of them were found stealing corn from the village. After getting reports from villagers, the local government decided to put some food out in the forest, where the monkeys were spotted, to help them overcome the lack of food. Later, a large group of golden monkeys, about 150 of them, immigrated to the forest, where they are fed regularly. The local government continues to provide food and protection for the monkeys.[Xinhua]
