A photo taken on Sept. 15, 2020, shows a view of Maowusu Sabina Vulgaris Nature Reserve, located in Wushen Banner county, Ordos city, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, China. The nature reserve is currently the largest and most concentrated area of Sabina vulgaris, a drought-resistant shrub, in China, covering a total area of 46,600 hectares. It plays an important role in the ecological protection of the Maowusu Desert, including fixing sand dunes, preserving biodiversity, and soil and water conservation. The Maowusu Desert reaches from Ordos, Inner Mongolia in the south, to Yulin, Shaanxi province in the north. Yanchi county, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, lies at its most northeastern point. It covers an area of 42,200 square kilometers. After fighting desertification for decades, the Maowusu Desert is turning into a green oasis. [Photo by Wang Yiming/China.org.cn]
