A photo taken on Sept. 15, 2020, shows a view of a Desert Control Station in Wushen Banner county, Ordos city, Inner Mongolia, China. Nearly one-third of the Maowusu Desert is located in the Wushen Banner county, Ordos city. In the 1950s, over 90% of the land was sandy and degraded with a forest cover percentage of only 2.6%. Now, thanks to various desertification control measures, the forest area of Wushen Banner stands at 384,000 hectares. Forest cover and vegetation cover percentages now stand at 32.89% and 80% respectively. [Photo by Wang Yiming/China.org.cn]
