China's fencing team is now ramping up it's training ahead of the Asian games in Guangzhou. And two of the squad's star names, Zhong Man and Tan Xue are considered by many to be gold medal favorites at the event.

A quite mountainside retreat is home to Chinese medal hopes. Away from prying eyes and withering summer heat. The country's fencing squad is cranking up its training preparations in time for Novembers Asian games.

Beijing Olympic sabre champion Zhong Man is the star of the men's squad. Zhong missed out the Doha showdown four years ago, but is hoping to win for his fans on home soil with his debut at the event. Olympic winners are usually pretty confident about their chances and Zhong is no different despite losing his coach Christian Bauer earlier this year.

Olympic champion Zhong Man said, "I think my form is picking up gradually starting from this year. After the coach left, I still maintained my form, which is not going down due to his departure. The only difference is the new coach's strategy I need to adapt to. He's given us sufficient time for us to get into it as soon as possible."

The squads new acting coach is Jia Guihua. He has developed a new training schedule for the team and many of the swordsman have quickly gotten used to it. Meanwhile, the women's team are also in training.

Beijing Olympic team sabre silver medalist Tan Xue, who recently claimed gold medal at the Asian Championships, will be China's female hopeful to win a gold medal. Even when the temperature does cool, China's sabre squad will be hoping to make their opponents feel the heat in Guangzhou.
