Security at the Guangzhou Asian Games is one the main priorities of the preparation work. Security guards have been selected and some of the security equipment is being displayed.

Security robots that move on tracks and have functioning arms will work together with security guards to ensure the safety during the games. They will mainly be used to dissolve possible explosives

They are very similar to the machine used in the blockbuster film, "The Hurt Locker".

Zhang Guoqing, Guangzhou Police Officer, said, We don't use it very often. But if we find bombs or suspicious packages, we will use the robot. The bomb-diffusion techniques in our country are equal to the US.

There have been no threats to public security in Guangzhou, but police have still gone to great lengths to prepare for the chance of attack.

Security guards will be issued heavy uniforms, should they be required to deal with such a situation, which weigh about 70 kilograms.

In addition, security has been organized into several sections, like safety checks for cars and individuals.

The training course for security guards is very strict.

Peng Jinxiang, Guangzhou Police Officer, said, I've been doing this work for several years. I like to work with coworkers and always be on guard at my post. I'm confident I can do this work well and ensure the safety of the Guangzhou Asian Games.

About 10000 volunteers have been trained as security guards for the Asian Games over the past 2 months.
