Rowing

Rowing derived from England. In the 17th century the crews often held some boat racing in Thames River. Rowing is an official Olympic sport since the 1st Game, but it was temporarily cancelled due to the bad weather. While in the 2nd Olympic it appeared again. Women's rowing was introduced to Olympic until 1976. Rowing was an official sport since the 9th Asian Games in New Delhi, 1982.

Rowing competition must be held in the flat water. From the start to the finish the rowing course shall be straight with the same width. The course is 2,000m long and 13.5m wide. International Regattas-on standard course , races shall normally be held over six lanes; FISA Championship Regattas and Rowing World Cup Regattas-Races shall be held on six lanes but, in principle, the course shall have at least eights lanes. Except the 2,000m for the competition, there shall be a area for preparation and at least 100m beyond the finish as open area. On both sides of the courses there shall be a safety area as a lane's width.

The courses shall be told by series of buoys, the distance of each two buoys is 10m or 12.5m. The surface of buoys shall be soft and the diameter of it shall no more than 15cm. All the buoys colors are put in regular. From the start to the 100m point it is red, from 100m to 1750m it is orange or white, from 1750m to the finish it is red. Beyond the two sides of the courses there shall be an obvious distance signal at each 250m point.
