Weightlifting

Weightlifting has been on the Competition of the Olympic Games every year except for 1900, 1908 and 1912. It was also a Competition appeared on every year of the Asian Games since the 1st one in New Delhi, 1951.

The weightlifting is performed on a lifting platform made of wood, plastic or other solid materials and coated with non-slippery materials. It is a square measuring 4x4m, with 8-15cm in height from the base. On all sides there shall be a colored boundary line measuring 5cm.

During the judgment, three white lights mean success; three red lights means failure. If two white, one red or two red, one white, then it obeys the majority. The former means success while the latter means failure. There is a 10-minute break after the snatch competition to allow the lifters to warm up for the clean and jerk. Each lifter has three attempts at the snatch and three at the clean and jerk.
