Beijing Olympic gold medallist Jin Jong-oh led South Korea to rule Guangzhou Asiad men's 50m pistol shooting team event to win the delegation's first gold medal here on Saturday.

Jin, who made 566 points in the match, helped South Korea to collect 1,679 points. China and Japan were listed second and third.

The host team China trailed by eight points to get the silver. Japan's 1,667 points awarded them the bronze.

Jin was regarded as one of the best pistol shooters in the world. He got two medals at Beijing Olympics, including one from 50m pistol.

Local favourite Pang Wei, who made 558 points, couldn't get rid of his low-level show after Bejing Olympics. Pang's teammate Pu Qifeng stayed hot-handed, shooting down 565 to give Jin enough pressure on the individual event.

Japan's world number one Matsuda Tomoyuki under-performed to end his match with 556 points.
