Japan swept Kuwait 3-0 on Tuesday to score their second victory at the Guangzhou Asian Games men's volleyball tournament.

The Japanese players took no sweat grasping the 25-19, 25-17 and 25-12 victory in 66 minutes.

Facing the comparatively low-profile Kuwait, Japan kicked off with a 3-1 lead in the first set, but Kuwait steadily pulled it back and an ace by Meshal Alomar gave Kuwait an 8-7 lead at the first technical timeout.

But Japan then began to conquer the court by their firm defense, the score favoured Japan 16-14 and they confidently took the opening set at 25-19.

The following two sets were much easier for Japan, who only ranked fifth in the 2006 Doha Asiad. They took an early lead and held on to make it three sets to nil.

Shimizu Kunihiro scored a game-high 14 points for Japan, while Ishijima Yusuke added 12.

Another Asian powerhouse South Korea also booked an easy win over India with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-19 victory.
