Wang Zhizhi scored 26 points to help Bayi Fubang hold off a late challenge by Shandong Gold for a 115-110 victory in the ninth round of the Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA) on the last day of the year 2010.

The leader of the national team and the Army's squad beat down the efforts of Shandong twice in the last 1:35 minutes as Bayi took their sixth win of the season.

Bayi almost squandered a 16-point lead in the final quarter when the road team closed it on 106-102.

Wang's two free-throws restored a six-point lead and his jumper on the baseline stopped Shandong's another effort with 21 seconds to go, leading by 110-106.

The former Dallas Mavericks' forward also had five rebounds and five assists when he was 10-out-of-10 on the free-throws.

Wang, 33, received a full-house ovation and salutes of the whole team when he led China to the title of the Guangzhou Asian Games last month.

League leaders Xinjiang Guanghui and Dongguan Marco Polo still kept unbeaten records so far.

Xinjiang won their eighth straight match after beating Shanghai Sharks 87-75, while Dongguan thrashed Jilin Northeast Tigers 111-78 at home.

Quincy Douby had 33 points for Xinjiang which led by double figures for most of the second half.

Josh-Emmanuel Akognon had 27 points as six Dongguan's players scored by double digits to produce the longest winning streak in the franchise history.

In Friday's other matches, Beijing Ducks beat Shanxi Zhongyu 93-82, Liaoning Hunters beat Tianjin Ronggang 97-80, Jiangsu Dragons beat Qingdao Doublestar 100-94, Zhejiang Chouzhou beat Foshan 100-66, while Guangdong Hongyuan beat Fujian SBS 110-101.
