The world No. 3 Mark Selby has set up a clash with legend Stephen Hendry after smashing debutant Jimmy Robertson 10-1 in the first round at the Snooker World Championships at Sheffield on Thursday.

Selby, 27, led the first session 8-1 on Wednesday and didn't show any mercy to Robertson by winning two frames in a row on Thursday.

As for facing seven-times champion Hendry who hinted he might consider ending his career at the end of this season, Selby said, "It would be nice to win but I would feel a bit guilty if he then retired."

Selby beat Hendry 13-5 in the second round at Crucible Theatre last year, but believed the Scot still had something to say in snooker.

"Even though he has been struggling lately he still walks around the table the same way. I know I won last year but every game is different and I'm sure he will be up for it as I will be," said Selby.

Selby reached the final at the 2007 World Championships before losing 10-5 to John Higgins. He was defeated by Graeme Dott 17-14 in the semifinals last year.

Higgins grabbed the last berth in the round of 16 after beating Stephen Lee 10-5. The reigning world No. 1 will meet Rory Mcleod in the second round.

Judd Trump, who knocked out defending world champion Neil Robertson in the first round, finished 5-3 up after the first session of his last 16 clash with Martin Gould.

Mark Williams leads the encounter with Jamie Cope 7-1 while the former world champion only needed 40 minutes to win the opening four frames.
