Gregory John Norman is an Australian professional golfer who spent 331 weeks as the world's Number 1 ranked golfer in the 1980s and 1990s. He is nicknamed The Great White Shark or sometimes simply The Shark. This is in reference to his blond hair, size and aggressive style of play.

Even with two Open Championships and a Players Championship, Norman is regarded as an underachiever (given his talents), a characterization fueled by his many near-misses in The Masters, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship.
