The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has short-listed a 28-player squad for Thomas and Uber Cup badminton tournaments to be held in China in May, local media reported here on Tuesday.
Former Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat headlines the men's pool, which also includes Simon Santoso, Tommy Sugiarto, Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka, Alamsyah Yunus, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Mohammad Ahsan, Bona Septano, Markis Kido, Hendra Setiawan, Alvent Yulianto Chandra, Hendra Aprida Gunawan, Angga Pratama and Rian Agung Saputro.
The women's pool consists of Lindaweny Fanetri, Adrianti Firdasari, Aprilia Yuswandari, Maria Febe Kusumastuti, Bellaetrix Manuputty, Hera Desi Ana Rachmawati, Greysia Polii, Meiliana Jauhari, Vita Marissa, Nadya Melati, Anneke Feinya Agustine, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, Liliyana Natsir and Shendy Puspa Irawati.
"We will hold a test event by the end of next month to pick the final teams for the Cup," Jacob, an official with the association, was quoted by The Jakarta Post as saying.
Indonesia will pick four singles players and three doubles pairs for men and women apiece.
The Southeast Asian country has recorded 13 wins in the Thomas Cup history while its Uber Cup team has collected three victories.
The Thomas&Uber Cup will take place in Wuhan, China from May 20-27.
