The regular season of the 2011-12 Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA) is coming down to a heated final three rounds, with hopeful teams sprinting toward the finish.

While the league's top three teams have already secured their playoff berths, seven others are still in contention for the five remaining spots.

Guangdong 126-116 Fujian

The defending champion Guangdong Hongyuan are close to securing the best record in the regular season following a comfortable win over Fujian on the back of 25 points from former Houston Rockets guard Aaron Brooks.

Shanghai Sharks 85-75 Zhejiang Bulls

The Shanghai Sharks boosted their playoff hopes Wednesday besting the J.R. Smith-led Zhejiang Bulls 87-75.

Shanghai's imports Mike Harris and Carl Landry took charge in the fourth quarter. Harris led Shanghai with 31 points and 21 rebounds. J.R. Smith scored 29 points.

Liaoning 99-104 Xinjiang

In the match of two teams in desperate need for points to make the playoffs, last season's runner-up Xinjiang kept calm to hold off Liaoning.

With the win, Xinjiang has climbed to fifth place in the ranking table, and Liaoning is all but mathematically eliminated from the playoff picture.

Zhejiang Guangsha 90-89 Bayi Fubang

In a close game, Ramos, rather than former NBA star Wilson Chandler, became Guangsha's key on both ends of the game. He scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Guangsha stopped their three-game losing streak and moved up to eighth place in the ranking table.

In other games Wednesday, Shandong Gold beat Beijing Ducks 118-112, Qingdao Doublestars defeated Tianjing Ronggang 115-102, and Jilin Northeast Tigers topped Shanxi Zhongyu 128-123.
